South Steyne Manly Project – A Thoughtful Balance of Heritage and Modern Craftsmanship
Nestled within a heritage-listed Federation Bungalow in Manly, the South Steyne Project is a testament to meticulous restoration and refined architectural vision. Seamlessly blending historical charm with modern sensibility, the space honours the home’s character while introducing contemporary materials and detailing.
Led by U+I Building Studio, the architectural design carefully navigates the balance between old and new. Promena Projects brought the vision to life with exceptional attention to detail, delivering craftsmanship that complements the integrity of the original structure.
The interiors are elevated by a curated selection of natural stone and premium finishes:
- Rio Granite is featured on the floors and stairs, grounding the space with its striking texture and organic sophistication.
- Bisazza Opus Romano mosaics add a touch of artistry beneath the bar counter and surrounding areas, creating a dynamic interplay of colour and pattern.
- The Geoluxe Bluette bar counter serves as a bold statement piece, with its elegant veining and deep tonal richness offering a modern contrast against the heritage backdrop.
Captured beautifully by photographer Rez Bagheri, this project exemplifies how thoughtful material choices and collaborative design can respectfully enhance and transform a historical residence.
